A New Chapter for Blue ʻĀina: More Ways to Give Back on Maui
We’ve been working on something we’re excited to share: a new chapter for Trilogy’s Blue ʻĀina program.
Our reef cleanup sails will continue to be part of Blue ʻĀina, but we’re working to grow the program into something broader—our community giveback program, with opportunities to support Maui both on the water and on land.
That means a new way to apply for volunteer spots aboard our cleanup sails, as we continue to partner with local nonprofits on other ways to give back. Stay posted as we continue to announce new events!
How do I sign up for a Blue ʻĀina sail?

We’re gathering our volunteer pool now, moving away from the previous booking system and introducing a Google Form application. If you’d like to volunteer with Blue ‘Āina, the form will be your new starting point.
Once you submit your application, keep an eye on your email. If you’re selected, our team will reach out with confirmation and the information you’ll need to participate.
Submitting an application does not reserve a spot aboard a sail. Please wait for an acceptance email from our team before making plans to join us.

What’s changing beyond the reef cleanup sails?
Earth Day Volunteering for the Trilogy ‘Ohana with Kipuka Olowalu
We love bringing people together to care for the ocean. We also know there are meaningful ways to support Maui that don’t require stepping aboard a boat.
We’re exploring partnerships with nonprofits on Maui to create volunteer opportunities on land. That could mean planting trees or joining a beach cleanup. It could also mean lending a hand with a project a local organization already has underway.
We want these partnerships to start with what our community partners actually need and where our volunteers can be useful.
This is the part of the expansion that’s most in progress. Building a new volunteer system takes coordination, and we’re still figuring out how to organize these opportunities with our nonprofit partners. We don’t have a land-based calendar to announce just yet, but we’re working toward it.
Why expand onto land?
Our goal is to give back to Maui throughout the year, hopefully including the months when we aren’t able to set aside a boat for a reef cleanup sail.
When our boats are fully booked, we still want to show up for our community. Developing opportunities on land would give us another way to do that while supporting organizations already doing important work on Maui.
We’re building toward a more consistent program, with room for different kinds of service throughout the year. Reef cleanups will remain part of that work, alongside new opportunities as partnerships come together.
Does your nonprofit want to collaborate?
We’d love to hear from nonprofits on Maui interested in working together on a Blue ʻĀina initiative on land.
If your organization has a project that could use volunteers, or an idea for how we might support your work, please reach out. We’d welcome a conversation about what you need and what we could make happen together.

Where does the money go?
Whether a Blue ʻĀina event takes place on land or on the water, Trilogy does not make a profit from the program.
When a Blue ‘Āina takes place on one of our vessels at sea, the ticket price will cover food costs, with all remaining proceeds going directly to the nonprofit we’re partnering with.
When it comes to land-based events, tickets and lunch will depend on the specific program. As we finalize each event, we’ll share the ticket price and the nonprofit your participation will support.
How do corporate sponsors support Blue ʻĀina?
Corporate sponsors help make Blue aina possible. Your participation helps offset some of the operational costs of hosting these outings while also directing meaningful financial support to a Maui nonprofit.
Sponsored Blue Aina sails start at $1,200 and include up to 10 seats aboard. In addition, each corporate sponsor also selects a Maui nonprofit to donate fully tax write off funding too, with a minimum donation of $1,000 made directly to that organization. Two representatives from that non profit will get to join the event at no cost.
By setting aside dedicated sails for corporate sponsorships, we can plan cleanup outings with financial support already in place. It also gives the featured nonprofit an opportunity to share its mission and work with everyone aboard.
For participating teams, it's a chance to spend a beautiful day on the water together while making a tangible contribution to the community. The shared experience gives team building a greater purpose and puts mālama kai—care for the ocean—into practice. It also embodies kuleana: the responsibility, and privilege, of caring for one another and the places we call home.
Can we organize a private Blue ʻĀina experience?
Yes! If your company would like the boat exclusively for your group, a private charter can be arranged as a Blue ʻĀina team bonding experience.
This gives your team dedicated time together on the water, with a community giveback purpose at the center of the outing. Our team can help you explore the options and discuss the nonprofit donation.

Are there other ways to sponsor?
A reef cleanup isn’t the only way to get involved.
Businesses or individuals can also ask about sponsoring a keiki whale watch, helping schools with limited funding bring their students aboard for a fun, educational field trip.
You don’t have to organize a team outing to help make an experience possible for someone else. If supporting a school group sounds like the right fit, let us know through the sponsor inquiry form.
Help us shape what comes next
We’re excited about where Blue ʻĀina is headed, and we appreciate your patience as we build out this next chapter.
Our goal is to create more opportunities to care for Maui throughout the year. We’ll share more as the details come together. In the meantime, we’d love to hear from anyone interested in volunteering or helping make a future giveback possible.
